Comdt. Con O’Neill RIP

RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Commandant Con O’Neill, Howth Road and formerly Lennox Street, Dublin. On September 29, 2020, peacefully at home. Cherished soul mate of the much-missed Leolyn and beloved father of Katy, Desmond and Cara. Con leaves behind much loved grandchildren, a lifetime’s worth of dear friends, including those from the Defence Forces, and exceptional neighbours. Con’s family are particularly grateful to his GPs, Doctor Michelle Caraher and Doctor Fiona Macken, for their unerring support and kindness.

Con had a lifelong association with the Pearse Battalion, both as a member of the unit itself and of the Pearse Battalion Association.  After serving on full time duty during the 1970s with An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil, Con was commissioned into the Permanent Defence Force, and served mostly in Operations Section of 2 Eastern Brigade Headquarters.

Due to current restrictions governing funerals, times to attend Con’s reposal will be advised by family members directly in strict adherence with public health guidelines. Funeral Mass on Monday, 5 October 2020, at 10am in the Church of Saint John the Evangelist, Kilbarrack/Foxfield, Dublin 5. Burial afterwards in Dromiskin, County Louth.

Members may wish to leave personal messages in the ‘Condolences’ section of Con’s death notice on rip.ie –  https://rip.ie/death-notice/con-o-neill–dublin/435055
