RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Colonel Tom Murphy of Harbour Heights, Kinsale, on April 30th 2023 peacefully in the loving care of the Staff at Haven Bay Care Centre, Kinsale. Beloved husband of the late Mary, and dear father of Irene, Stephen, Paul and the late Philomena (Guerin). Sadly missed by his loving family, sons-in-law, grandchildren Tom, Dan, Claire, Brian and Sarah, great-grandchildren Muirin and Ted, brother Lieutenant Colonel Mick (31 Cadet Class 1956-1958), sisters Joan, Mary and Noreen, extended family, Defence Forces colleagues and friends.

Tom Murphy enlisted in the Defence Forces on 7th December 1953 as a member of 28 Cadet Class (1953-1955) and was commissioned into the Infantry Corps on 28th November 1955. He served for most of his career in the Southern Command, particularly with the 4 Infantry Battalion and the Southern Command Training Depot. Tom had extensive overseas service, serving in the Congo, Cyprus, and in The Middle East.

Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 11am in Saint John the Baptist Church, Kinsale which will be livestreamed on www.churchservices.tv/kinsale

Funeral afterwards to Saint Eltin’s Cemetery, Kinsale.
