ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Éamonn Draper of Cork and Galway. On 27th December 2023, unexpectedly, in the presence of his family in Cork. Dearly beloved brother of Kitty (Mc Carthy), Una (O Leary) and the late Connie Draper. Sadly missed by his loving sisters, brother-in-law John, nieces, nephews, relatives, Defence Forces comrades, and friends.

Edward D. (Éamonn) Draper was born in Dublin in 1940 but grew up in Cork where his father Tommy served as a Company-Sergeant with 1 Field Signals Company in Collins Barracks. Éamonn enlisted there in the Defence Forces as a member of An Buíon Gaelach of A Company, 23 Infantry Battalion FCA. In 1961 he became a member of 35 Cadet Class, was commissioned into the Infantry Corps on 23rd July 1962, and served for most of his career with 12 Infantry Battalion. Having had a long involvement with amateur drama, Éamonn retired from the Defence Forces in 1968 to pursue a professional career in theatre, both as an actor and as a director, notably with An Damer, the Abbey Theatre, and An Taibhdhearc. Éamonn also appeared in many film and television productions including The Riordans, Fair City, Ros na Rún, Killinaskully, Vikings, An Crisis, and Game of Thrones.
