Many members of ARCO will have close associations with Óglaigh Náisiúnta Na hÉireann and with the Gaelic Athletic Association. All members will be delighted to hear that ONE has been selected by the GAA as an official charity partner for 2025 in a landmark initiative to raise vital funds and awareness for veteran homelessness and mental health support.
ONE provides accommodation to homeless veterans in its Veterans’ Homes, along with other advice and support, in particular Mental Health advice, through its nationwide network of Branches, Veteran Support Centres, and Veteran Support Officers. Vital support has been provided by ONE to over 1,500 veterans since 1994, ensuring they have access to accommodation, mental health resources, and a strong support network.
Since 2008, the GAA’s charity partner initiative has contributed nearly €1.5 million to over 50 charities. In 2025, the GAA will collaborate with four selected charities, each receiving a €25,000 donation, to advance their impactful work within Irish communities.
This partnership with the GAA marks a significant milestone in ONE’s efforts to ensure that no Irish veteran is left behind. The collaboration aims to foster greater awareness of ONE within Irish society, ultimately supporting those veterans who have served our country and who now need our support.
ONE’s current services cost €1.6M annually, excluding capital (building) costs. It receives €751,000 in state funding, which means it must raise €849,000 in 2025.
ARCO members can contribute to this vital work by logging on to ONE’s website at: https://one-veterans.org/ to make a regular donation.
