RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Commandant Patrick (Paddy) Trears, Castleknock and formerly of Cork City who passed away peacefully on 28th April 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Very sadly missed by his family, Mary, John, Tony, Mairead, Niamh, Patrick, Kevin and Brendan, his many grandchildren Liam, Aidan, Molly, Finn, Conor, Kiera, Tess, Millie, Lara, Jack, Ralph, Callum, Jess, Ally, Sean and Dara, nieces Colette, Oliva, Defence Forces comrades and friends.

Paddy Trears completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree following his secondary school education. He was commissioned into the Defence Forces in 1964 and was posted to the Ordnance Corps, where he served in a variety of appointments with Ordnance Corps units and detachments in Cork, Dublin, and especially Dundalk during the height of the security situation in Northern Ireland. Overseas Paddy served in Cyprus with UNFICYP. Having completed a Master of Business Administration in the University College Dublin Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Paddy retired from the Defence Forces with the rank of Commandant in the late 1980s to pursue business interests.

Paddy’s Funeral Mass has taken place.
