ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Ronald (Ronnie) Bermingham of Shanagarry, County Cork, formerly of The Curragh, County Kildare and Hartstonge Street, Limerick on October 21st, 2023, peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Marymount Hospice. Beloved husband of Anna and loving father of Gráinne, Nessan, Deirdre and Clara. Remembered with love by his adored grandchildren, Zoe, Andréas and Ross, daughter-in-law and sons-in-law. Dearest brother of Anne, Debra, Jerry, and the late Philip. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, neighbours, Defence Forces comrades, and friends. Also remembering his late parents Maura and John and brother Philip.

Ronnie Bermingham was born on 31st July 1941 and enlisted in An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil in 1959. He enlisted in the Permanent Defence Force in 1966 and served in 1 Field Engineer Company in Cork. Overseas Ronnie served with UNFICYP in Cyprus in 1968. He attended 3 Potential Officers Course and was commissioned as a Lieutenant on 14th June 1976. Ronnie held appointments with the Military College, the Ordnance Corps, and the Engineer Corps in the Curragh Command and with 6 Brigade Headquarters. He retired 0n 31st July 1999 in the rank of Captain.
Ronnie, in accordance with his wishes, was privately cremated on October 24th surrounded by close family and friends. His death notice was posted on rip.ie on 18th November.
