Capt Philip Brunkard RIP

RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Philip Brunkard of Clondalkin, Dublin 22, and formerly Luby Road, Inchicore. Passed away peacefully on 11th January 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Doreen and much-loved father to John, Philip, Conor and Keith. Philip will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his sons, daughters-in-law Lynn, Asha, Christine and Hilda, his 9 grandchildren Damon, Kieran, Arun, Tia, Sam, Ryan, Zena, Keenan and Vala, great-grandson Christopher, brothers James and Tom, sisters-in-law Helen, Margaret and Rita, nieces, nephews, extended family, Defence Forces comrades, friends, and colleagues in UN Post 1 Arbour Hill.

Philip Brunkard was born on 20th April 1937 in the village of Inchicore, Dublin. He graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers in 1965. He held many Corps appointments including in the School of Military Engineering in the Curragh. Philip served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force Cyprus (UNFICYP) in the rank of Lieutenant with 9 Infantry Group as Engineer Officer from September 1968 to March 1968. He was a very active member of McKee Officers Club.

Reposing at Massey Brothers Funeral Home, Clondalkin Village, D22 EOCO on Tuesday, January 13th between 5pm and 7pm. Removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Clondalkin in time for Requiem Mass on Wednesday, January 14th at 11am with Burial thereafter in Newlands Cross Cemetery.
