Capt John Bourke RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain John Bourke, formerly of Powerstown, Clonmel and Bansha, County Tipperary on 24th January 2023 peacefully in Rathkeevan Nursing Home (predeceased his wife Evelyn). Sadly missed by his sons Frank and John, daughters Miriam and Rita and her partner Thomas, daughter in law Valarie, son in law Philip, grandchildren, relatives, Defence Forces colleagues, and friends.

John was a long-time member of 14 Infantry Battalion, An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil. After serving on full time duty for a number of years, he was commissioned into the Permanent Defence Force and was posted to 12 Infantry Battalion. He had a long association with Kickham Barracks in Clonmel, County Tipperary. Overseas John served as Assistant Logistics Officer with 70 Infantry Battalion UNIFIL in Lebanon from November 1991 to April 1992.

John’s removal and funeral have already taken place. John’s wishes were that his body be donated to Medical Science.
