An open invitation has been issued to members of the Defence Forces to the launch of The Kidnapping, a book by journalists Tommy Conlon and Ronan McGreevy, on the kidnapping and rescue of Don Tidey in 1983. The launch takes place on Thursday, 26th October 2023 at 6.30 pm in Book Upstairs, 17 D’Olier Street, Dublin 2. If you are attending please RSVP to LAraujo@penguinrandomhouse.ie
The family of Private Paddy Kelly will attend. Paddy Kelly was killed in the line of duty along with trainee Garda Gary Sheehan during the rescue of Don Tidey, at Derrada Wood, Ballinamore, County Leitrim. Many of our members will have been involved in the operation.
