Army Ranger Wing Association’s Arctic Challenge for ONE

An Army Ranger Wing Association (ARWA) five-member team has just travelled to Svalbard, a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, the last land before the extensive fields of polar ice which stretch to the North Pole and beyond. Their purpose is to raise funds for the Organisation of National Ex-Service Personnel (ONE). As ARCO members will be aware, ONE provides multiple and critical supports to former members of the Defence Forces to ensure that no former soldier, airman or sailor is ‘left behind’. All funds raised will go directly to ONE.

For seven days, in the land of the midnight sun, the ARWA team will ski across the frozen Arctic, hauling gear behind them without support. Nights will be spent in tents, with armed polar bear watches, and daily distances travelled will range from 12 to 15 kilometres, while navigating tough and challenging conditions. With an average age over 60, the team also hopes to demonstrate that adventure is ageless.

If you’re able, any donation – big or small – will make a meaningful difference.
