Capt Padraig O’Carroll RIP & Capt Tom McDonald RIP

RIP

The following are the details of two ARCO members whose passing we regretfully missed.

Captain Padraig O’Carroll (Ó Cearbhaill) of Sutton, County Dublin, who died on 23rd December, 2022, in the care of the wonderful nurses and staff at the Mater Private Hospital and Saint Francis Hospice, Raheny. Beloved husband for 53 years of Patsy, devoted father of Calbhac, Caitriona, Emer, Cian and the late Barra; proud grandfather of Eoin, Aoife, Maeve, Orla, Sian, Rory, Clare, Grace, Liam, Killian, Leah, Marin and Saoirse. Sadly missed by his partner Brid Mulcahy, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, extended family and many friends, including those in the Defence Forces, sailing and business worlds.

Padraig was a member of 19 Cadet Class and was commissioned on 10th November 1947.

 

Captain Thomas (Tom) McDonald of Donnybrook, Dublin, on 9th March 2023 suddenly at Saint Vincent’s University Hospital. Beloved husband of Viola and loving father of Rena, Ailbhe, Stephen, Aisling and Derek. Predeceased by his sister Anne. Sadly missed by his family, sister Laura, sons-in-law Kyran and John, daughter-in-law Kate, grandchildren Lucy and Alice, Ross, Tom and Owen, Rachael, Muireann and Laureann and Kira, brothers-in-law Humphrey, Barry, Ken, Ted and Alan, sisters-in-law Doreen and Miriam, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Tom was a member of 22 Cadet Class and was commissioned on 14th December 1950. He served in the Congo as a Captain with A Company, 1 Infantry Group from May to November 1961.
