ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Commandant Kevin Geraghty, Castleview, Carrigtwohill, County Cork and formerly of Dowdallshill, Dundalk, County Louth. On July 23rd, 2022, peacefully, in the exceptional care of the GEMS Ward staff at Cork University Hospital. Beloved husband of Mary and dear father of Susan (Rohan), Denis, Roy, Darren, and Tara (Cotter). Loving grandad of Sean, Emma, Ciara, Cecilie, Jamie, Matthew, Kon, Daniel and Kim, brother of Sean, Ann and the late Maura, Kitty, Rita, and Anthony. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, sons-in-law Michael and Seamus, daughters-in-law, Pia, Kay and Lynn, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Christy Crosbie and Pat Casey, nephews, nieces, relatives, Defence Forces colleagues and friends.

Kevin Geraghty, a native of Dundalk, was born on 2nd November 1943. He enlisted in the Defence Forces on 19th January 1960 and rose to the rank of Company Sergeant in 2 Infantry Battalion. Kevin was selected as a member of 3 Potential Officers Course and was commissioned into the Infantry Corps on 14th June 1976. He was posted to 4 Infantry Battalion in Collins Barracks, Cork and it was here he spent most of his commissioned service where his prowess as an excellent shot helped win his unit many shooting competition trophies. He was also Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Battalion (FCA).
Kevin will repose at O’Farrell’s Funeral Home, Riverside Way, Midleton, on Monday from 5.30pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon at Saint Mary’s Church, Carrigtwohill, followed by burial in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Carrigtwohill.
