ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Commandant John T A (Terry) McNulty of Terenure, Dublin; Greenmount, Dingle, County Kerry; and Roscrea, County Tipperary. On 12th January 2022 (peacefully) at Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross. Beloved husband of Ann and loving father of Aidan, Siobhan, Ciara and Eileen. Sadly missed by his family, his grandchildren Amelia, Ellie, Harry, Ella, Sean, Ciara, John and Claire, great-grandchildren Harry and Fionn, daughter-in-law Sandra, sons-in-law George and Garet, brother Ray, nieces, nephews, relatives, Defence Forces colleagues and friends.

Terry McNulty was born on 31st January 1931 in Roscrea. His father was a member of An Garda Síochána who died when Terry was young. He joined the Defence Forces as a member of 24 Cadet Class (1950-1951) and was commissioned into the Infantry Corps on 10th November 1951. He served in a variety of appointments, particularly in the Eastern Command with 2 Infantry Battalion and in Defence Forces Headquarters with Operations Section.
Overseas Terry served as an unarmed military observer with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation, including on the Golan Heights in 1974, when he was based in Tiberius. He was a member of an eight officer Reconnaissance Party that travelled to Lebanon on 12th May 1978 in preparation for the deployment of the first Defence Forces unit, 43 Infantry Battalion, to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. Terry subsequently retired to take up civilian employment.
An all-round sportsman Terry played hurling with Wexford and football with Tipperary. A keen and talented golfer he held a single figure handicap.
The Funeral Mass will take place in Saint Joseph’s Church, Terenure, on Saturday at 11.15 am and may be viewed on www.stjosephsterenure.com The committal at Mount Jerome crematorium at 1.30 pm may be viewed on https://www.mountjerome.ie/garden-chapel-service/ Family flowers only, please.
