ARCOIreland regrets to inform its members of the death of Lieutenant Colonel James (Jimmy) Macken of Rathfarnham, Dublin and late of Granard, County Longford on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018. Jimmy passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family, under the tender care of the staff of the cardiac unit in the Beacon Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Marie (née Shivnan), his sons David, Barry, Conor and daughter Ciara McNaughten, his daughters-in-law Joan, Niamh, Kay and son-in-law Sean, together with his brothers Johnie, Benny, Eddie, sister Doris and all his extended family and friends. His eight lovely grandchildren Darragh, Maeve, Leah, Amy, Ben, Holly, Sam and Lucy are very saddened at his passing.

Jimmy was a member of 30th Cadet Class (1955 – 1957) and served mainly in the Eastern Command. Reposing in the Larry Massey Funeral Home, Eden Centre, Grange Road, Rathfarnham, on Friday, 16th, from 5pm to 7pm, returning to spend the night at home, Family only. Removal on Saturday morning to the Church of the Annunciation, Rathfarnham, arriving for 11am Mass. Funeral afterwards to Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross. No flowers please.
