RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Father Willie Walsh, Kilmeedy, County Limerick, peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Carrigoran House, Newmarket-on- Fergus on the 28th April 2024. Former Chaplain to the Forces, Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick, and former Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Ennis Road, and of Rockhill, Bruree, County Limerick. Predeceased by his Parents William and Mary and his sister Geraldine (Farrell). Sadly missed by his loving brothers Pat, Tom and John, his sisters Breda (Carroll) and Kay, sisters-in-law Breda, Laura and Marie, brothers-in-law Kevin and Donal, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, Bishop Brendan Leahy, Priests of the Diocese, extended family, Defence Forces comrades and friends.

Father Willie served as a much respected and admired Chaplain to the Forces with 12 Infantry Battalion in Sarsfield Barracks, Limerick. He served overseas with UNIFIL in Lebanon as Chaplain to 74 Infantry Battalion from November 1993 to April 1994 and to 77 Infantry Battalion from May 1995 to October 1995.

Reposing at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Ennis Road on Wednesday (1st May) from 5pm to 7pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday (2nd May) at 2.30pm followed by burial in Relig Mhuire Cemetery, Croom. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
