The following are the funeral details for Commandant John Nolan, whose passing we have just received word of.

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Commandant John Nolan of Rathfarnham Dublin, peacefully, on Monday 31st March 2025, after a short illness. Predeceased by his parents David and Katherine and his brother David, he will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Mary, niece Barbara, nephews David-John and Roger, relatives, Defence Forces comrades and friends.

John Nolan was born in Kildare on 5th September 1942. He was commissioned into the Air Corps as a Direct Entry Engineer on 26th January 1965. Among the appointments John held was as Officer in Charge of the Apprentice Technical Training Squadron at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel. He was also Airworthiness Standards Inspector at Air Corps Group Headquarters. John retired from the Defence Forces on 2nd April 1988 to take up an appointment in the Department of Transport. He later became Head of Safety Regulation with the Irish Aviation Authority.

John’s funeral took place on Friday 4th April 2025 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Ballyboden at 10.30am and was followed by burial in Deansgrange Cemetery.
