ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death, on Thursday, 8th July 2021, of Commandant Charles (Charlie) Martin, The Oaks, Newbridge, County Kildare and formerly of Clones, County Monaghan. Husband of the late Mary Ann. Sadly missed by his loving children Helen, Owen, Siobhan, Cathal, Ciaran and Lisa Marie, son in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, sisters, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours, Defence Forces colleagues and friends.

Charlie Martin enlisted in the Defence Forces as a trainee radio mechanic with 4 Apprentice Class (1959-1962) at the Army Apprentice School, Devoy Barracks, Naas.  He was commissioned as a member of 2 Potential Officers Course on 7th December 1970 and was assigned to the Signals Corps.  He served for most of his career in the Curragh with 6 Field Signals Company, Depot Signals and the School of Signals.  In the early 1990s he was Officer Commanding 11 Field Signals Company FCA in Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.

Due to current Government guidelines regarding public gatherings, a private family funeral will take place. Removal from Glennons Funeral Home, 32 Main Street, Newbridge on Monday to arrive at Saint Conleth’s Parish Church for Requiem Mass at 1 pm. Burial afterwards in Saint Conleth’s Cemetery, Newbridge.
