Comdt Andrew Brady RIP

RIP

ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Commandant Andrew Brady, The Willows, Allenwood, County Kildare and formerly of Tully West, Kildare Town on Tuesday, 24th September 2024. Sadly missed by his devoted wife Captain Deirdre (Carbery – 81 Cadet Class), his adored daughter Ella, his heartbroken parents Esther and Jim, brother Conor, sister Carol, mother and father in law Majella and Colonel Declan (45 Cadet Class), sister in law, brothers in law, his much loved nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, neighbours, friends, work colleagues and Defence Forces family.

Andrew was born on 5th December 1981. He enlisted in the Defence Forces as a member of 78 Cadet Class on 1st October 2001 and was commissioned into the Infantry Corps on 8th July 2003. Andrew attended Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, where he took a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies in 2006. Over the years he continued his academic studies in the Carlow Institute of Technology, at Maynooth University and at Ulster University. Andrew’s first posting was as a Platoon Commander with 12 Infantry Battalion in Kickham Barracks, Clonmel. He later served in the Military Police School, in the Office of the Director of Military Police, in J2 Branch at Defence Forces Headquarters, and in the Ordnance School.

Andrew had extensive overseas service: he was Assistant Logistics Officer, 98 Infantry Battalion, European Union Security and Defence, Chad, 2008-2009; Contingent Military Police Officer, UNIFIL 2012; Chief IED Officer, European Union Security and Defence, Somalia, 2013; Deputy Chief Instructor, Education & Training Taskforce, European Union Training Mission Mali, 2017-2018; and Liaison Officer, United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission, Mali 2020-2021. He retired from the Defence Forces in April 2022 to take up the position of Insider Risk Investigations Manager with Zoom.

Andrew will be reposing at his family home (Eircode W91 X3A4) on Sunday from 3pm with rosary at 7pm. Removal by Glennons Funeral Directors on Monday morning to arrive at The Carmelites Church, Kildare Town, for Requiem Mass at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in Saint Corbans Cemetery, Naas.
