The following are the funeral details for Captain Michael Connolly, whose passing we have just received word of.
ARCO regrets to inform its members of the death of Captain Michael Connolly, The Bungalow, Coolduve, Kilmurry, and formerly of Ballincolllig, and Dublin. On 13th February 2025, peacefully at his residence. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Finn) and dear father of Stephen, Louis and the late Simon James. Deeply regretted by his loving wife, sons, sisters Kathleen and Theresa, brothers-in-law Jimmy, Sean and predeceased by Tony Finn. Especially missed by Teresa, Jim and the boys, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours, Defence Forces comrades and friends.

Michael Connolly was born on 5th February 1948. He enlisted in the Defence Forces on 29th September 1965 and served with 5 Infantry Battalion, Depot Military Police Corps, 2 Garrison Company Military Police Corps, and with McKee Barracks Company, rising to the rank of Company Sergeant. He was selected as a member of 4 Potential Officers Course on 2nd November 1978 and was commissioned on 1st November 1979. He served as Administrative Officer with both 3 Garrison Ordnance Company in Cork, and with 6 Maintenance Engineer Company in the Naval Base, Haulbowline. Michael retired on 1st July 1987 in the rank of Captain.
Michael’s funeral took place on Tuesday 18th February at 2.30pm in Saint Mary’s Church, Kilmurry with burial afterwards in Saint Finbarr’s Cemetery, Kilmurry.
